Are You An Entrepreneur At Heart?
By Eileen Hebert
Have you always dreamed of working for yourself? Are you a motivated, self-starter that enjoys challenges? Does
the concept of setting your own hours and working from the comfort of your home sound appealing?
If you answered yes to the above questions then you are probably an entrepreneur
at heart. Although most people will agree that working from the home sounds ideal only some
individuals are well-suited to that work environment. Let me explain why.
The advantages to working from your home are too numerous to list. For many the benefit of having more time to spend with family is enough to make this a viable option to
pursue. But do you have what it takes to achieve success with a home-based
business?
In order to work out of your home you must be disciplined enough to maintain some
routine of working. If you know that you are lacking in some areas you might want to consider
partnering with someone that complements you – someone that can basically fill in any gaps left by you and you for them.
No matter what type of home business you decide on it is important to treat it as
a business. Start with a plan. A business plan will
provide a roadmap for you to follow. By establishing where you want to be in six months, a year,
two years, and even three years before you actually start you will be better equipped to plan for any necessary adjustments, purchases and
tasks that may be required along the way.
One of the most essential personality traits of an entrepreneur is that of a
positive attitude. You must be able to stay focused and think positively. An understanding that there may be times that things will not go as expected will be helping you maintain an
attitude of perseverance. Many people fail at a home business because they give up too
soon. A commitment to succeed along with lots of hard work can sometimes overcome all odds
against an individual’s home business success.
Consider people you know that are successful entrepreneurs. What essential personality traits do they have in common?
Chances are that they are driven and have a positive attitude. And why shouldn’t they be…..they
are living out their dreams. By establishing your own business based on your likes and dislikes
you are setting yourself up for a happier and healthier outlook on life.
We all want to feel “in control of our own destination”. By having your own business
you are truly in the driver’s seat. The road you choose is up to you. You decide which bumps to ride over and which mountains are too high. The freedom to achieve success is all yours.
