Are
You Successful?
By Eileen Hebert
When you started working in your field did set certain
goals for yourself? Perhaps those goals included attaining a particular job title or
position.
If so you probably did things like most people do when
striving for such achievements. Examples might include: showing up for work everyday (even if you
were ill), taking on extra assignments (perhaps even some that cause you excessive work/work hours), dressing for the position you want rather
than the one you have (supposedly a trick of the trade).
Let’s assume that these methods worked. You got the promotion that you desired. Yes, you make more money
in this position but this position is salaried. You are now working 50 – 55 hours per week instead
of 40. After putting all those hours on a regular basis you have less of you to give at
home.
Suddenly it seems that everything has gone
wrong. All that you worked so hard for seems to have been wasted. Or was it? You do have job status. You have learned a lot. You have more money. Your time and attendance record is outstanding. Your evaluations
have been marveled over. You are making the company a fortune.
But you are working so many hours and the pressure is
terrible. You are questioning whether you are truly “successful”. From all outward appearances you are the picture of success.
Anyone would assume you were thrilled with your accomplishments. You’re almost embarrassed to
complain. But deep down you know you don’t want to spend the rest of your working days like
this. What can you do?
You should start by evaluating what it is that you truly
want. What type of work would make you happy? For most
people the answer to this is work based on something they care about, something they enjoy. Most
people want control over their time which gives them a sense of control over their life.
Does this sound like you? Do you feel as though control is what’s missing form your life?
Home business owners are definitely in control of their time, their earnings potential and most areas of their life. Most “successful” individuals have what it takes to succeed in a home business. Check out the possibilities!
