Happiness At Home By Eileen Hebert
Some people have found that working at home leads to true
happiness. When these entrepreneurs are questioned about their work schedules and lifestyles
they simply glow. Remarks such as, “It’s awesome”! and “I love it”! are not
uncommon. Okay, but that’s very generalized you say. So we asked a two entrepreneurs to give us more details.
Here’s the first one:
Awaking when I choose (usually about
7am) I begin my day by showering and then having a cup of coffee. After the coffee I open up
emails. By now it is usually about 8am. I read my
emails, I check my accounts, and then I begin working.
Working can be anything from writing content for my website to meeting clients,
to making phone calls, or any number of things in between. That’s one of the wonderful things
about working for yourself – you get to choose what you’re going to work on when.
I try to make it a point to stop at about noon or 1pm for lunch. I usually watch a little TV as I eat lunch. Then I get back to
work. My days vary. Some days I work late and other
days I quit early. Flexibility is the name of the game. I know if I quit early one day I can make the time up the next day. There are even some nights that I choose to work in the very early morning hours. I love being in control of my time and my life!
Here’s another one:
I get up about 7:30am each morning.
My priority in the morning is getting my daughter ready for pre-school. After she is dressed and
fed we head out to the school. I make this sound as though it happens quickly but she doesn’t
arrive there until 9am. I get back home and to work about 9:15am.
I start by checking my emails and accounts. If I need to respond to emails I like to take care of those early. I also like to transfer funds from PayPal to my bank account first thing in the morning.
Next I make a list of the things that I want to get accomplished that
day. It may be that I want to call prospects or existing clients. I may need to contact my web designer for updates to my site. My work varies from day to day which is part of the fun.
My daughter’s school day ends at 3pm so I leave my home at 2:45pm to pick her
up. When we get back home I make it a point to spend at least a couple of hours with her before I
do anymore work. I work my schedule around my little girl. Some evenings I am back at the computer by 7 or 8pm but other evenings I do not work at all. My schedule is flexible.
