How To Blog For Money
By Eileen Hebert

There are literally thousands of blogs on the Internet. Many of these are the "online journals" of all kinds of people who periodically share their ideas, opinions, experiences and observations with their Internet based audience. Some of these, however, are also money-making machines... where their owners have discovered the benefits of blogging as a business.

Blogs are popular with people who want to make money blogging for a number of reasons. Blogs are pretty much ready-made websites that can be uploaded without much effort. That means their owners don't need to have sophisticated HTML coding skills to construct or maintain them. At the same time, there are plenty of web designers who can be hired to modify the look of a blog to meet the blogger's specifications. Importantly, the blogger can add fresh writings to their blog as often as they want with ease. Blogs also tend to attract the attention of search engines more than typical websites, whilst also allowing for hundreds of plug-ins and add-ins that can, among other things, let other websites and individual people know when new content is added to such blogs.

Business-oriented people make money blogging in a number of ways. For example, they may promote their products or services in their blog content (including links to the relevant offers, whether these  exist on the same domain or another website).

Alternatively, bloggers can also generate advertising and/or affiliate income. By including ads or affiliate offers on their sites - e.g. from an ad network like Google Adsense or an affiliate network  like Commission Junction - such bloggers get paid based on a cost-per-action (CPA) model. Such actions may involve visitors clicking on ads, filling in forms or buying a product or service.

So how do get started blogging as a business? Well, the first thing to do is decide which money-making model you prefer - whether it's promoting your products or services, running ads or affiliate offers, or something else. The next thing to do is to make your blog into a valuable, ongoing conversation with your target market. While you may be blogging for money, you still need people to read and appreciate your blog. So have something interesting and useful to say!

Finally, don't give up if you start your blog and the world doesn't automatically beat a path to your door. You'll probably find that regularly posting information to your blog will. over time, attract the attention of search engines and subscribers. And eventually, if you have a sound blog home business model, you will start generating an income from your efforts.

Eileen,
I really enjoyed our session. All the ideas you had for me will defiantly help my business grow and establish me as an expert in my field. You have really encouraged me and inspired me to be creative and to think of so many ways I can generate more business. I have already used one of the ideas you gave me and am working on so many more. This past holiday weekend we had the best week at the store since it has opened and I know it is a direct cause of applying what we discussed.  I would definitely encourage anyone who needs some great advice and direction to work with you.  Please use my testimonial to encourage others. Thank you for your help.

Dear Eileen,
More was gained from my 90 minute consultation than from years of wading and wandering through the available information attempting to find a plan.  I felt understood as a unique individual.  The information and ideas learned were both inspiring and practical regarding opportunities I'd already wondered about plus many more I'd never considered.  There is clarity in the immediate steps I'm now taking doing things that I enjoy plus I learned of many resources I hadn't known existed to look into during the coming weeks and months.  Now, I have the beginnings of a flexible, workable plan and the awareness that I really can create the life I want to live and have the means to support that life.

Hi Eileen,
What a great idea! It's fresh and new and definitely has a lot of potential. I've never heard of anyone doing anything like that. And my husband could help me with the business cards as we have a computer program for that. Yes, I would definitely have to get a portfolio put together. Hmmm......there are a lot of possibilities with this idea. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I will definitely think about it. :-)
