Is Your Driving Force Gone? By Eileen
Hebert
If you are like the typical person you started your career path by trying to achieve as much as possible,
always striving for advancements and increased recognition. And like many others you may be feeling
overwhelmed.
Having a successful career does not guarantee happiness. Very
often a successful career leads to frustration and less time for doing the things you really want to do in life.
Have you ever wondered if you made the right career choice? Do
you wonder where your joy and enthusiasm for “work” went? If you think back you may remember a time
that you were full of ambition, always ready for whatever life had to throw at you.
Most of us start a career with a driving force behind us and more often than not that driving force is
simply to achieve success. Has that driving force slowed down or stopped? Have you come to a point in your career that job status is not enough to keep you happy?
It’s not uncommon for one to discover that the career choices made throughout time have not resulted in the
happiness and fulfillment that was expected. For some of us that “success” was more money, for
others it was status and recognition on the job. As we begin to pursue and achieve our goals we are
pumped up about life……until we suddenly realize that life is passing us by.
While we are spending endless hours working for another, essentially ensuring the success of someone else’s
business, our dreams are slipping away. We realize that we have missed our true
calling.
This is a turning point. Our life feels out of control and we
don’t have time for the things that matter to us most. Those “things” include friends, family and
the pursuit of our happiness. The problem is that it is very difficult to balance those things while
maintaining the prior commitments one has made to the present career choice.
The solution to this dilemma is to find a career that can offer more. Finding a j-o-b that affords one the opportunity to work around the requirements and needs of family as well as
one that will revive that joy and driving force that resides within us all can be complicated and a challenge. Many of us find it necessary to “create” that dream job we crave so badly.
It really is possible to escape the corporate world, to leave behind the 9 – 5 rat race. Many have done it and you can too. You can make a living from things that fulfill you on a deep level.
You’ll find that you are happier and healthier as you are relieved of the daily stress and
frustration brought about by the demands of a j-o-b.
Consider building a career around the things you love and that interest you most. Get that excitement back! Millions have found that a running a
home-based business is their true calling. A home business can be built around virtually any
interest you may have. Explore your options!
