Things You Should Know If You Want to Blog for Money
By Eileen Hebert

It seems like everyone wants to blog for money. The benefits of being able to make cash just by making a post in an online journal every few days are hard to resist.

However as with anything else, becoming a successful, money-making blogger takes work.

Here are some things you should keep in mind.

Set Goals

Before you start your blogging business, consider your goals.

What do you want to accomplish with your blog? Do you just want to make a little extra cash to supplement your income? Or do you want to actually make a living from blogging?

The amount of work you have to put in, and the types of blogs you create, will depend on your goals.

How Much Time Can You Invest?

If you dream of being a successful, full-time blogger, you will have to devote a lot of time and energy to making that dream come true.

You might have heard of people making hundreds of dollars from blogs they only work on for a few hours a week. But they probably spent a lot more time than that getting those blogs up and running. And you should prepare yourself to do the same.

Be Realistic

It's true that, the more blogs you have, the more money you can make. But do you really think you can make 10 or 20 good blogs all at once? Probably not.

It's best to devote yourself to getting one, maybe two, blogs up and running at a time. Giving yourself time to create good blogs, and promote and market them properly, will lead to greater profits in the long run.

Be Patient

There is a chance your blogs won't be profitable from the start. In fact, there's a good chance they won't be.

This is when some new bloggers give up. If their blog hasn't gotten a lot of traffic in the first month, or they haven't made an affiliate sale in the first week, they consider the blog a failure.

But creating a successful, money-making blog can take time. You might not make a profit the first week or month. But give a blog time, and keep working to attract traffic, and that blog will eventually turn into a steady source of income.

Many people want to blog for money. But, to make money as a full-time blogger, you have to look at it as a business. One that will take time, effort and patience to succeed.

Eileen,
I really enjoyed our session. All the ideas you had for me will defiantly help my business grow and establish me as an expert in my field. You have really encouraged me and inspired me to be creative and to think of so many ways I can generate more business. I have already used one of the ideas you gave me and am working on so many more. This past holiday weekend we had the best week at the store since it has opened and I know it is a direct cause of applying what we discussed.  I would definitely encourage anyone who needs some great advice and direction to work with you.  Please use my testimonial to encourage others. Thank you for your help.

Dear Eileen,
More was gained from my 90 minute consultation than from years of wading and wandering through the available information attempting to find a plan.  I felt understood as a unique individual.  The information and ideas learned were both inspiring and practical regarding opportunities I'd already wondered about plus many more I'd never considered.  There is clarity in the immediate steps I'm now taking doing things that I enjoy plus I learned of many resources I hadn't known existed to look into during the coming weeks and months.  Now, I have the beginnings of a flexible, workable plan and the awareness that I really can create the life I want to live and have the means to support that life.

Hi Eileen,
What a great idea! It's fresh and new and definitely has a lot of potential. I've never heard of anyone doing anything like that. And my husband could help me with the business cards as we have a computer program for that. Yes, I would definitely have to get a portfolio put together. Hmmm......there are a lot of possibilities with this idea. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I will definitely think about it. :-)
