Your Blog Home Business: How to Promote Your Blogs
By Eileen Hebert

The key to having a successful blog home business is promotion.

You can create the best blogs in the history of the Internet but, if you don't promote them, no one will even know they exist. If no one knows they exist, you won't get traffic. And, if you don't get traffic, there won't be anyone to click on your Adsense ads or buy the affiliate products you are promoting.

There are many ways to promote a blog. But here are some things even those new to blogging can do with ease.

Try Article Marketing

Write several articles related to your chosen niche. Then post these articles to article directories, like EzineArticles, GoArticles, and Article Dashboard. In the author’s bio box, tell readers they can learn even more about the topic at your blog, and give them a link.

Your article will be read by hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people, many of whom will follow that link.

Use Social Bookmarking Sites

At social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, Digg, Stumbleupon, and Blink you can post links to any web content you find interesting. The purpose of this is that it makes finding stories or articles you liked easy to keep track of and find later. And, for the blogger, the benefit is that your links are shared with other users of the site.

Adding links to some of your blog posts to social bookmarking sites will attract plenty of new visitors.

Use Your Sigs

Get into the habit of posting at message boards devoted to your niche topic.

At message boards, you can create a sig, a short message added to the end of every post you make. Include a link to your blog in your sig. That way, whenever someone reads your post at the message board, they will see your link, and just might follow it to your blog.

Register With Some Tracking Services

Tracking services keep track of when changes are made to weblogs. So every time you make a change to your blog, users of the tracking service will know about it.

This has the potential to attract countless new and repeat visitors every time you make an update.

Always remember that your blog home business is just that. A business. And, as with any business, it will take marketing and promotion to attract new readers. While there are many ways to promote a weblog, the above methods are a great place to start.

Eileen,
I really enjoyed our session. All the ideas you had for me will defiantly help my business grow and establish me as an expert in my field. You have really encouraged me and inspired me to be creative and to think of so many ways I can generate more business. I have already used one of the ideas you gave me and am working on so many more. This past holiday weekend we had the best week at the store since it has opened and I know it is a direct cause of applying what we discussed.  I would definitely encourage anyone who needs some great advice and direction to work with you.  Please use my testimonial to encourage others. Thank you for your help.

Dear Eileen,
More was gained from my 90 minute consultation than from years of wading and wandering through the available information attempting to find a plan.  I felt understood as a unique individual.  The information and ideas learned were both inspiring and practical regarding opportunities I'd already wondered about plus many more I'd never considered.  There is clarity in the immediate steps I'm now taking doing things that I enjoy plus I learned of many resources I hadn't known existed to look into during the coming weeks and months.  Now, I have the beginnings of a flexible, workable plan and the awareness that I really can create the life I want to live and have the means to support that life.

Hi Eileen,
What a great idea! It's fresh and new and definitely has a lot of potential. I've never heard of anyone doing anything like that. And my husband could help me with the business cards as we have a computer program for that. Yes, I would definitely have to get a portfolio put together. Hmmm......there are a lot of possibilities with this idea. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I will definitely think about it. :-)
